Sighted Moon News Letter 5844-021
14th day of the Fifth month 5844 Years After Creation
August 16, 2008
The Various Escape Clauses used in order not to
“Obey the Sabbath and Holy Days and Sabbatical year”
Shabbat Shalom Family and Friends,
With last weeks News Letter we had a record number of hits per day after it was sent out. That was over 1830. Our readership is up over 7200 now. I am finding that there are many out there who are hungry and even starving for the information that is contained on this web site which no one else is teaching. This web site, www.sightedmoon.com teaches about the Sabbatical and Jubilee years as they are told to us from the pages of your very own bible. This is not my interpretation of when they are. Yahweh tells us is in very simple and plain terms when these years occurred in the pages of your bible. All you have to do is read it and obey His commands. It is that simple. As one pastor once said to me, the whole bible can be summed up in this expression. Just Pray and then Obey. Pray and Obey, it is really that simple.
So welcome to those who are just receiving this letter for the first time. Look around the site before you decide whether or not this is for you. Before you leave though take a look at the DVD at https://sightedmoon-archives.com/sightedmoon_2015/?page_id=251 Please also look at and print off the charts at https://sightedmoon-archives.com/sightedmoon_2015/?page_id=250 They will help you to understand what is being shown to you in the DVD.
The DVD takes you chronologically through the Prophecies as they are laid out by understanding the Jubilee and Sabbatical years. These prophecies are happening right now and have been on the nightly news for years, only most people did not recognize it.
It was the same way with the Jews who for almost 1400 years went through the rituals of keeping the Passover sacrifice. It became routine to them. They did not get into the deeper meaning of the event. Then when the real lamb showed up who they had been looking for, they missed Him and killed Him not knowing that He was the long awaited for Messiah. They missed the event not knowing what they were looking for.
I am telling you brethren, you are doing the same thing and do not know it. Each and every group thinks they are the one and only true followers of the Messiah. I have belonged to a few of these groups.
My sheep will know my voice. This web site and this growth is totally attributed to the power of Yahweh. It has nothing to do with any of my abilities. Some have said I am self promoting. I am promoting that you watch the DVD and read the News Letters for a deeper understanding which I could not explain on the DVD. It is to promote and to warn of the soon coming danger to all of us. I gain and receive nothing for this. If you buy the DVD I do not get one cent. Nor do I ask for any donations or tithes, so how am I profiting from this? I am not. I do this because of what I have learned is soon to come. I share it all for free with those who seek so that some might be saved. It is your children that are about to die in the next curse. Your children, yes even those of you who are already saved. Yes those of you who are born again, and those of you keep the Sabbath, and those of you who keep both the Sabbath and the Holy Days, none of you are righteous. It is only by being righteous as told to us in Ezekiel 14 that we might be saved. And what is that righteousness of Noah Job and Daniel that is being spoken of? This is why I promote this site and the DVD’s and for no other reason. I would have much more time to myself if I did not have to write this warning or maintain this web site. I already have a full time job in construction, so why would I want to do this and add to my already tight schedule, more work answering the many questions and reading the many abuses that I get? Why indeed?
Before we begin I was sent an email this week which explains what is going on with the Georgian conflict. The head line is ‘Oil, Israel and Iran’ Among Factors that Led to Georgia War by Gl Ronen. You can read this short article in the forum area titled Fourth Curse of Lev. The Lead up to War at this link

This week we are going to look at the escape clause. This is that one scripture that most people will use in order to excuse themselves from obeying the command to keep the Sabbatical and Jubilee years. Different groups use different scriptures, which one do you use?
When you watch the DVD I address the one that a number of those who met me were using as their escape clause. It was and for some still is, ‘Jesus full filled the Law, so I do not need to.’
What they are saying is that because Jesus full filled the law they could continue to disobey the law with impunity. I have addressed this on the DVD and explain it further in News Letter https://sightedmoon-archives.com/sightedmoon_2015/?page_id=221 ,but be warned many of you are not going to like what the bible says and will go back to your traditional beliefs. I hope you are strong enough to face the truth.
Others use the excuse that the law was nailed to the cross. This too is answered by a brother from the SDA faith. It is a most remarkable and simple explanation of what was nailed to the cross. https://sightedmoon-archives.com/sightedmoon_2015/?page_id=138
And recently I have been getting e-mails that are of the type that say they keep the law, just not the Holy Days and most certainly not the Jubilee and Sabbatical years.
This past winter I was on a forum and challenged a brother to prove whether or not those things I was saying about the Sabbatical and Jubilee years were true. This brother took me up on the challenge and surprised me at the way he went about doing it. His first search was to determine if the Land Rest years were in fact part of the law. I had never thought of it in this light and was interested in his conclusions.
He never did write them down. He just agreed I was right. And we moved on.
Recently I asked him about this study as it was the topic of some of the e-mails I was getting. His reply is as follows;
I did not write up anything. It is now in my head… and I think about it a lot.
If you walk up to a Christian and ask, “What must I do to be saved?” You will receive this answer: Ac:2:37: Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Ac:2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
So, the church teaches that you must accept Jesus only. The repentance part is not discussed. To them it means that you must feel really, really bad about what you did before. That is repentance?
What you will never hear from Christians is what Jesus said when he was asked the very same question: Lu:18:18: And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
Lu:18:19: And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
Lu:18:20: Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
What was the ruler’s reply? Lu:18:21: And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
So, let us explain what is obvious but, not discussed.
The Ruler wants to know how to get to heaven. Yahshua tells him to obey the commandments. The very same commandments the Church says you do not have to obey. Now, if the ruler was obedient to the commandments, why did he make that statement he made? What he should have done was walk away from the conversation with the comfort that he had met the requirements to get into heaven. But he did not stop there. Why? Because he was trying to draw attention to himself. It was as if he was saying, “Well, I have done this since I can remember. What else do I need to do?” In actuality, he was boasting. And his pride cost him. Yahshua said in reply: Lu:18:22: Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Lu:18:23: And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
Obedience is part of the commitment. Part of what commitment? Let me start with this verse in Galatians 3:
Ga:3:19: Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Question: What law was added because of what transgression? To understand this verse you have to become a Pharisee like Paul in order to understand what He understood. So, how about a crash course?
The covenant made between the Children of Israel and Yahweh was a marriage ceremony. The laws contained in the covenant start with the 10 commandments and are located in Ex 20. But, you cannot stop there. The next 3 chapters of Exodus contain the rest of the laws of the covenant. The feasts are mentioned in part in the first half of Ex 23. The last part of Ex 23 contains the blessings which come from obedience. Let’s look at the ratification of this covenant, also called the marriage ceremony:
Ex:24:4: And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
Ex:24:5: And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.
Ex:24:6: And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
Ex:24:7: And he took *the book of the covenant*, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
Ex:24:8: And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, *Behold the blood of the covenant*, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
Moses went up to the mount. Within 40 days of making this covenant, they broke it by making and worshiping the Golden Calf! That is why Moses broke the two tables of stone….they were worthless because the covenant was broken. So, the answer to the question above about what transgression is: *The Golden calf transgression*.
So, what law was created because of the Golden Calf transgression? The Book of the Law was created because the covenant was broken. Up sprang the Levitical Priesthood and something called the Book of the Law.
Now, I know what yer thinkin’, did he have one book or was there two? Here is the answer:
1. Where did the Book of the Covenant go?
A: Ex:25:16: And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.
What does this mean? The covenant was 4 chapters long, Ex 20 – Ex 23. All of it had to be written on the two tables of stone because it cannot be added to nor can anything be subtracted from it. Paul talks about this: Ga:3:15: Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, *yet if it be confirmed, no man dis-annulleth, or addeth thereto*. In other words, anytime a covenant is made, you cannot add to it nor take away from it once it has been agreed upon. That is why it was written in stone… so that no man can change it. And you cannot agree to 4 chapters of laws and only keep the first 10 commandments. Get it? You cannot agree to a 4 chapter covenant and then strip out the 10 commandments and pretend you are obedient.
So, the Book of the Covenant went inside of the Ark of the Covenant.
2. Where did the Book of the Law go?
De:31:26: *Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant* of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
A. It went outside of the Ark of the Covenant.
So, it is clear that the two books are different. So what?
Why was the Book of the Law created? To patch up (like duct tape) a broken covenant until the Messiah could come and rebuild it.
So, When did the Messiah rebuild the covenant?
Yahshua is in the Upper Room with His disciples and he says:
Joh:14:15: *If ye love me, keep my commandments.*
Joh:14:16: And I will pray the Father, *and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Joh:14:17: Even the Spirit of truth;* whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Joh:14:18: I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Joh:14:19: Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
Joh:14:20: At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me and I in you.
Joh:14:21: *He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.*
Joh:14:22: Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Joh:14:23: Jesus answered and said unto him, *If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him*.
Joh:14:24: *He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings*: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
This is the same exact covenant as the one made with the Children of Israel. In fact, it contains the same laws as the covenant made with Abraham!
So, the New covenant contains the same laws as the Old Covenant with a twist: Now we also have permanent forgiveness of sin! The Old Covenant had a temporary sin covering through the blood of the lamb sacrificed at Passover each year. That is right, it only covers your sin for a period of one year, then it expires. That is why it had to be done once a year whether you sinned or not. And nobody entered heaven through the blood of Bulls and goats! In fact, Yahshua said it clearly that there is only one way into heaven: Joh:14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: *no man cometh unto the Father, but by me*.
All this in order to get to this point:
Once I understood that no man is going to heaven without a covenant with Yahweh, I accepted the Laws written on the two tables of stone as listed in Ex 20 – 23. And this is something I found in that list of laws:
Ex:23:10: And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof:
Ex:23:11: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
I cannot argue with this. It is in the original covenant. Abraham obeyed it. Issac obeyed it. So did Jacob. And then the children of Israel did too. And in case you want more detail, read Lev 23 – Lev 26 and you will end with this verse:
Le:26:46: These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
So, my family and I have made a commitment to obey the covenant. And, I do not know anyone who has observed the Sabbath Year of rest. We debated this issue and decided that the curses for disobedience are so bad that we no longer want to receive them. Up to this point, we have been living under them. Next year, we have the chance to finally break these curses of Lev 26 and start receiving the blessing instead! And the Blessings are SO GREAT!
And if we drag our feet, we will not be prepared enough to obey the commandment because it requires you to store food for the Sabbath Year. And then, we would have to endure another 7 years of curses because they cannot be broken until you have been found obedient the whole year long.
So, since we have made the commitment to obey, and put our heart into action by buying and storing food for that year, we have already been experiencing blessings that we never experienced before. The Holy spirit has been working in us like never before. We have more understanding and are given words of encouragement and words of warnings in advance.
So, to summarize, once we found the Sabbath year Commandment in the covenant, we no longer fought it. We are just going to obey it. I know my family has never obeyed this commandment. Therefore, they have all been born under a curse and died under the very same curses.
We are looking forward to next year. Once we are judged at the end of the Sabbath Year, we are expecting to see something very special happen to us. We will be able to be called righteous. Is it possible that the Holy Spirit will work in us like never before because we will have been found obedient?
At this point I have to draw a contrast between the person who commits to obeying all of the covenant and sins once in a while, and the person who sets himself up against obeying any of the laws of the covenant. Who do you think the Holy spirit will work with? Remember this verse:
M’t:7:21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
M’t:7:22: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
M’t:7:23: *And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.*
Iniquity means lawlessness. If you will not keep the covenant laws, you are lawless.
Brethren, I have read what Don has written a number of times. Each time I am amazed at just how simply he has concluded that the Sabbatical and Jubilee years are to be kept. What amazes me even more is his humbleness at admitting he has sinned by not obeying in the past, and is currently under a curse, the curse of the law for not obeying.
The only way to get out from under this curse is to start to obey. To obey the law, which is what Don has said he and his family are going to do by keeping this upcoming Sabbatical year. It takes planning the same way the Sabbath should be planned for and prepared for on the preparation day of Friday each week.
How much food do you need to store up? Will it keep from rotting for two years? This exact situation was shown to Israel by Yahweh in Exodus 16: 13 So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. 14 And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15 So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. 16 This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ” 17 Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. 18 So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need. 19 And Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.” 20 Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. 21 So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted. 22 And so it was, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23 Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’ ” 24 So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. 25 Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field. 26 Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, there will be none.” 27 Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none. 28 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws? 29 See! For the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” 30 So the people rested on the seventh day. 31 And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
Compare how Yahweh showed the Israelites which day was the Sabbath to how He is going to show us which year is the Sabbatical year in Lev 25: 20 And if you say, “What shall we eat in the seventh year, since we shall not sow nor gather in our produce?” 21 Then I will command My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years. 22 And you shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old produce until the ninth year; until its produce comes in, you shall eat of the old harvest.
To do this requires faith. Just imagine, the produce you store away does not rot in the same way the manna did not rot on the Sabbath. This is how we are to test Yahweh, using the same Sabbath and Sabbatical year, He uses to test us, and see if we will obey Him. As it says in Malachi 3: 7 Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’ 8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;
Yahweh tells us to try Him and see what He will do. In Exodus 16: 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. 5 And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”
He is testing us as to whether or not we will obey the Sabbath and the Sabbatical year. Are you going to pass this test as Don is going to do or will you continue to suffer the plagues He is sending on us right now for not obeying for having not kept the Sabbatical years in the past?
But some are already saying this is works and you can not be saved by works. This is the escape clause that some are using in order not to obey. So let us conclude this article by looking at what the scriptures actually do say.
James 2:8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; 9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
The law that James is talking about here is the Ten Commandments. The 4th commandment is the one I am focussing on as it contains the command to keep Holy the Sabbath day. Lev 23 tells us that the Holy Days are also part of Yahweh’s Sabbaths, and Lev 25 tells us that the Sabbatical and Jubilee years are also part of this 4th commandment.
James 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. 26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
Those who keep the law must be doing something. It requires of us an action from us, in order for us to keep the law.
1John3:4 Who ever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
Psalm 119: 172 My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness.
By keeping the commandments we are becoming righteous. When we do the commandments we are in fact practicing righteousness. We may fail, but we repent from our sin and keep trying to practice this way of life.
1 John3:22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
It is by obeying and keeping the commandments that we know we have the Holy Spirit in us. Because we keep the commandment, which include resting on the Sabbath and the Holy Days and keeping the Sabbatical and Jubilee years that we know our prayers are heard and answered. As Don said above when he quoted Mathew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
1John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 John5:1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
Do you grasp this one line? Do you get it yet? For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.
Romans 2: 13 (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;
Many go on to start to quote Paul saying Paul also said the law was done away. But before we read from Paul we must consider what the Apostle Peter said in 2 Peter 3: 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the long suffering of our Lord is salvation–as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
So is Paul trying to do away with the Law?
Romans 3:1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? 2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God. 3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.” 5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.) 6 Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world? 7 For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? 8 And why not say, “Let us do evil that good may come”?–as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just. 9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. 10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” 13 “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; 14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways; 17 And the way of peace they have not known.” 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, 30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. Was Paul doing away with the law? NO!
Consider now what Paul says in Romans 9: 30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. 33 As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
The righteousness that we have shown you in Psalm 119 of keeping the commandments is not what saves you. It must be attained by faith. That is you must keep the commandments and act on them. It is not just head knowledge. It is a way of living. Keeping the Sabbath, keeping the Holy Days, and keeping the Sabbatical years does not make any logical sense. Why? Because it is an act of faith to obey. It is trusting Yahweh to look after us if we do obey. Taking your farm and selling to an Arab for a dollar during the Sabbatical year is not having faith. It is getting around the law.
Galations 2: 11 Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; 12 for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. 17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
Galations 3: 1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth,* before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you+ as crucified? 2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have you suffered so many things in vain–if indeed it was in vain? 5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?– 6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”*), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 15 Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. 16 Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
So is Paul doing away with the Law as some teach? Read these quotes in you bible in context. Romans 3:3 Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not!
Romans 3: 5 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.) 6 Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world? 7 For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? 8 And why not say, “Let us do evil that good may come”?–as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say.
Yahweh can not judge you if there is no law to judge by. If there is no law then the unrepentant murderer and you are both going to get the same reward.
Ro 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
Read this again! Our faith does not negate the law. Just because you have faith in the Messiah does not mean the law is null and void. CERTAINLY NOT!
Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
Each time Paul states with exclamation marks that the law is not done away nor are we to forget it. And here he says that sin shall not have dominion over you. Sin is the transgression of the LAW. With out the law you would not know what sin was.
Now read the whole chapter and understand Paul is upholding the law. You can not take snippets of the things Paul is teaching. You have to study the whole book of Romans and of Galatians and do it as one who is obedient to the law. When this is done all the rest of the bible makes sense and agrees with itself. Doing other wise causes all kinds of confusion which is demonstrated just by looking at the many different groups teaching such different things using the scriptures
Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Most of those who teach that Paul was teaching we are saved by grace and not by works, or by faith and not by keeping the law do not teach what James has to say on the matter. James seems to bring the things of Paul into line with the rest of scriptures. The Jews kept the law but had not faith, many who claim to follow Jesus claim to have faith but do not keep the law.
James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe–and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Many of the so called Christian teachers today would have you believe that Yahweh made the law and then when the Messiah came he did away with the law. It was no longer valid. They do this by twisting the scriptures of Paul. Taking them out of context.
If they are right in their teachings, why does this God seem to flip flop in those things He has said. He can not be trusted if they are right. But we read in Malachi 3: 6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Yahweh does not change, and we read in Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
So I ask you who do you believe? Those who say Yahweh has changed the law, those who say that Yahshua is not the same as he was in the days of the Exodus. Are Yahweh and Yahshua liars or are these false teachers who twist the scriptures of Paul for their purpose?
But also notice the only law they want to change is the one that contains the 4th commandment. They do not want to obey the law that tells them to keep the Sabbath holy. They do not want to keep the law that tells them to Keep Holy the annual Holy Days. They do not want to keep holy the Sabbatical years. This is main stream Christianity. How about you?
John 8:1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” 6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”
Yahshua did not tell this woman she was saved by grace and to go and commit adultery again. He told her to sin no more. Sin is 1 John 3:4 the transgression of the law. And the law is the Ten Commandments which includes keeping the weekly Sabbath, and includes keeping the Holy Days and also includes keeping the Sabbatical and Jubilee years. Yahshua is telling you He does not condemn you but to go and sin no more!
Eze 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die. And this is repeated in Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sins shall die.
I believe my Friend Don has said it best and I hope I have not confused you with those teachings of Paul which many who are untaught in Torah and who are unstable twist to their own destruction those things Paul says, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
