Shabbat Shalom to the Royal Family of Yehovah,
January 11, 2020 Zoom Comment
Last week we had a meeting in which about 71 or so people joined our meeting. Again there were often more than one in each of the 71 rooms. So Thank you for coming out and sharing. I was striving to make sure you all knew why you believed what you believed. I do not want you all following me because I said it first or that I said it, period. I have completed the video portion of the meeting. It is 3 hours plus. But for the entire video it records only Pauline the entire time. LOL. So I began to edit the video and make it into an audio file. It is not yet done. I will try to get it done before I post this, but I am being pulled in many directions at the same time. Which is why I start a lot of things but never get them finished. And this frustrates Pauline and Jan and James.
What we did not get to talk about was organizing and preparing. No one has written about this so maybe no one is interested. I will leave that aside for now.
Here are a couple of comments I felt you all should hear.
It was good to be part of the zoom meeting. Thank you for that, Joseph. It began at 4:30AM here, which is a little inconvenient, but well worth the time. I didn’t get a chance to say some of the things that were on my mind so I thought I would share them now.
I am paraphrasing here but, you asked what proof we might have that convinces us that your interpretation of prophecy is accurate. You also wanted to know if we are following you or the truth as Yehovah reveals it to us. And you expressed concern regarding your possible future role as we approach the fulfillment of prophecy. I would like to have shared my thoughts on these things but it’s probably better that I write them to you now rather than nervously trying to explain myself in the meeting. So…
In the few years leading up to my discovery of your teachings on SightedMoon, I had read everything I could find from Herbert W. Armstrong and many of the splinter groups that followed. I learned much but the most significant discovery was the Sabbath Day Commandment.
I had rejected membership in various COG groups due to doctrines that I felt were wrong such as no interracial marriage, no head shaving, lack of regard for Sabbath Day obedience by shopping etc., the requirement to wear a suit and tie, having to call the top dog Mr… But most importantly, the insistence that the group was the one true church and its leader was HWA’s successor and an apostle. None of those things are biblically provable, as far as I can tell. So when I came to SightedMoon, the first thing I noticed was that you did none of that. If you had presented yourself as anything more than a ditch digger trying to understand God’s word, I probably would have lost interest very quickly. But you didn’t. I appreciated that you made it very clear that no work was to be done, or caused to be done on the Sabbath. The Sabbath is not just a day that sets us apart for the world to see that we are different. It’s a day to actually come out of the world and place our trust in Yehovah.
What you were teaching in your newsletters was well researched. There was no hint of a pre-existing doctrine that you were trying to uphold. It was not for show. It was pure inquiry about what is true and what is not. But what got me hooked was your teaching on the timeline.
You showed me that secular history, as recorded by the Assyrians, matches Biblical events. This brought the Bible into the material world for me and I wanted to learn more.
Then I learned about Daniel’s 70 weeks and how this prophecy is meaningless without first understanding the Jubilees. It made perfect sense to me that the weeks are actually Jubilees. It was a simple matter then to determine when that prophecy would be fulfilled. And it gave me a clear understanding that we are definitely in the end times.
As was mentioned in the meeting, it’s obvious to many people that things are coming to a head. People are afraid, not just because of the most recent world events, but it’s been building up for several years. And that is probably why I wanted to understand Prophecy. With the knowledge of Daniel’s 70 weeks, I realized that the prophetic timeline can be known. You showed me how to understand Matthew 24:36 and that further cemented the Bible timeline up to our present day.
I need to say that I also learned that God’s name is Yehovah,- and what it means. And I learned that Yehovah is Yeshua and Yeshua is Yehovah. And I learned that the Presence of Yehovah, in His full Glory, will one day dwell on the Earth. It didn’t take away the fear that had been building up in me but I could see that the fearful events that might come were designed by Yehovah and that He has a plan.
Then you posted your doomsday clocks. I was deeply concerned about you and how you might suffer for doing that. Several times I sat down to write to you about it but could not find the words to express my support. That same week I watched a video about the LGBT curriculum being taught in schools. When asked to resist it, one preacher had said that he would not go against the curriculum because he “would rather err on the side of love than truth”. That terrified me. It angered me, yes! But the anger passed. The fear did not. It got worse with each passing week. And the tick tock of your clock was audible. It was clear. We are living in a world gone mad and time is running out.
News item after news item confirmed the growing insanity. Newsletter after newsletter expounded on the reasons for that insanity. Your prophetic message became undeniable. Still, I did everything I could to “unbelieve” it.
Are you right?
I have diligently looked for, (about 200 letters) but not found, a single person who can, or will refute what you say. They just skip over it. Men like Arthur Bailey, who seem genuinely devoted to Torah, just didn’t want to discuss it. I have chased alternate interpretations and explanations only to come away knowing that they don’t stand up to honest scrutiny. So, are you right? What I know is that I cannot prove you wrong and no one else can either. If they could, they would have!
My memory is very poor. I can’t remember things that are essential when trying to prove to others what you have taught me. Biblical references just don’t stay in my mind. I can’t remember where I learned what I want to share. But I do remember the meaning and truth of what is said. So, I have proved to myself that the things you teach are true. But, to answer your question,- am I following you, or the truth as it is revealed to me by Yehovah? My answer is, YES I AM!
That is, I am following you to the Truth Yehovah reveals to me.
Once, while in Canada, I tried to share some of what I had learned with an old friend. He quoted from a Jack Nicholson movie and in his best impression of Mr. Nicholson he said, “Don’t be coming around here selling crazy. We’re all full up”. I forget the name of the movie but that is the view of 99% of people when it comes to Bible Prophecy. And, maybe he’s right. Maybe you and I, and all who listen to you, have seats reserved for us in the cookoo’s nest. But maybe not. At this point all I can do is put my faith in Yehovah. I have prayed for bread. Will He give me a stone?
But the fear grows; sometimes to overwhelming levels. Every once in a while, when it gets to me and I need to forget all of this, I go online and watch an old episode of Bonanza. I did that the other day. The episode closed with Ben Cartwright reading the 23rd Psalm at a grave. It moved me to tears. It’s a perfect prayer for our times.
The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
So, who is Joseph Dumond?
You have caused me to know the word of Yehovah, our God, unlike anyone else. There is no doubt in my mind that Yehovah has inspired you. There is no doubt, regardless of the outcome of your teachings on prophecy, that you have given me more reason to trust and obey Yehovah than anyone ever has.
Are you a prophet? You have been accurate in your prophetic teachings! You continuously call the Israelites to repentance. If Yehovah put it in your heart to do those things then you are doing exactly what all prophets have done. If it looks like a duck… Then it’s probably not a peanut butter sandwich.
Are you Elijah? I once asked a cog author if the spirit of Elijah had died with HWA. Is that Spirit not present in all who work to restore the truth found in Torah? Who restored the Name of Yehovah? Who restored the Jubilees? Who can say that there are no other things that we have forgotten which may need to be restored? It’s my personal opinion that the followers of Mr. Armstrong made a religion of the man and ceased to learn as a result. I believe that because you did not claim any special status for yourself or him, you remained open to learn about the Jubilees. Elijah lives!
Are you one of the two witnesses? If you are not wrong about the coming destruction, then it stands to reason that you will be uniquely qualified for the job! It’s not my place to speculate. I’ll wait and see and if through some miracle I live long enough, I will not be surprised to discover that you are.
I am an old man in poor health and I have lived an undisciplined life. So, what I might be able to contribute at this point is questionable. All my efforts to reach out to people so far have been fruitless. But I keep trying. Since I love you for standing in the gap and sticking your neck out to do this work, I will pray for you and do whatever Yehovah leads me to do. I pray for all the people who will never look at your teachings because they have no appreciation for the Bible. I pray that I might find an effective a way to reach out to them, if it is Yehovah’s will.
Whatever happens; whatever struggles we might have; whatever solutions we might find to the many issues facing us in the next few months and years, we have only the Grace of Yehovah to rely on. I believe that whatever outcome befalls any of us, it is the Grace of Yehovah working in us which will bring us ultimately to Him,- by whatever route. The circumstances of our lives are far less important than the faith that He gives us to endure to the end.
I believe that it is important to add one more thing. I have grown in ways that I could not possibly have expected under your tutelage these past few years. One of those ways is that I have come to forgive the Christian leaders who failed me. And I can now love those who are still duped by half truths and see them as brothers and sisters in Yehovah – even if they don’t know His name. Unity is not agreement. It is acknowledgement of the the things we share in common. We share one Father and one Saviour and anything that we know about Him is strictly by His Grace. I thank Yehovah for the knowledge I have, but what I value more than knowledge is the Love of Yehovah that calls me to that knowledge,- and the expression of that Love as it may be seen by others, through me.
May Yehovah bless you, Joseph Dumond. May He continue to guide you to the full realization of your calling. And may He fill you with the Joy of His Presence throughout all of your days. Amen
Thank you for your Zoom meeting last Sabbath. That was the most sobering yet. I have suspected for years that you were one of the two witnesses. I think Nehemia Gordon is perhaps the other. He actually saw a figure as a little boy at Passover when he opened the door for Elijah. I would bet my bottom dollar that you two are them. That woman’s dream ripped my heart out to watch you as she read it. Heart-wrenching! That made the coming days so real and about a billion times more sad.
You asked a question on Zoom and here is my answer in a nutshell. We only have 120 Jubilee cycles (Gen 6:3), and the calendar based off of 1 Kings 19:29 shows that we’re in the 120th cycle, which is the same as the 70th week of Daniel. The Satanic covenant UNEP will end after one week (1972 to 2020), and also in the middle of the 70th week (2020) all Israel will begin to be cut off for 2,300 days when Edom finally breaks Jacob’s yoke from his neck (Gen 27:40) during the 7 years of Plenty for end-time Babylon. I have done the math and everything makes perfect sense to me.
A lady on Zoom brought up Corrie ten Boom, which kinda blew my mind. When I read Corrie’s book The Hiding Place, I learned that her Holocaust number was the same as my bank account number (66730). So that got my attention. I don’t know if it means anything, but what are the odds? I always kept the matter in my mind. May Yehovah be with us all as we wait on him…
Isa 40:29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, And young men stumble and fall,
31 But those who wait on Yehovah Renew their strength; They raise up the wing like eagles, They run and are not weary, They walk and do not faint.
Micah 7:7 As for me, I look to Yehovah; I wait for the Elohim of my deliverance; My Elohim does hear me.
8 Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. When I have fallen I have risen; When I sit in darkness, Yehovah is a light to me. May Yehovah always be with you,
They Just Don’t Get It
We have now gone from the brink of WW III between the USA and Iran along with multiple earthquakes in Puerto Rico and Mexico. This was coupled with Volcano eruptions in Alaska and the Philippines. Puerto Rico has not recovered from being flattened by the hurricane last year, and earthquakes in New York. There was also flooding in Indonesia and Israel, multiple volcano eruptions at the same time around the world and multiple eruptions in the Philippines themselves. All of them spewing ash high in the air. We have also just gotten over the wildfire that hit the USA this fall and then Australia this spring for them. Now the USA is having tornado season and towns are being flattened.
And yet for all of this the world still mocks those of us who cry out for them to repent. And just as Yehovah has warned us in Lev 26, if you will not return for all of these prior things then I will send 7 times more plagues on you.
It used to be I could write about one disaster each week. Now I am overrun with them. Who can keep up with all of them around the world?
Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, I am Christ, and will deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must occur; but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Now pay attention to what is next.
Mat 24:9 Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted and will kill you. And you will be hated of all nations for My name’s sake.
Mat 24:10 And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets will rise and deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many will become cold.
Mat 24:13 But he who endures to the end, the same shall be kept safe.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come.
@#$% $%#^ Batman, This Can’t Be Real
On top of all the other things going on in the world as we mentioned above, the following article comes out and put me right on my butt.
When I posted this on FaceBook I got the following comments
- Well Joseph Dumond I apologize. You appear to be right.
- Bible prophecy playing out before our eyes. You were spot on Joseph and thank you for leading so many to see the truth and to follow the Law of Moses as Yehovah wanted us to since the beginning.
- Events are falling right into place…
The first report is this one which, when I read it quickly, I did not see what was going until I read the second article below.
BREAKING: The Trump Effect: Britain, France, Germany Suddenly Harden Toward Iran After Killing Of Soleimani
By Hank Berrien DailyWire.com January 14, 2020
Surprise, surprise: Three countries that are signatories to the infamous Iran nuclear deal have suddenly hardened their positions vis-à-vis Iran after the Trump administration’s airstrike killing Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.
On Tuesday, Britain, France and Germany triggered the nuclear deal’s dispute mechanism, which means Iran has 30 days to stop violating the nuclear deal before a “snapback” of U.N. and EU sanctions on Iran could be implemented, as the Associated Press reports.
As Britain’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab informed Parliament, although Russia and China objected to the move by Britain, France and Germany, every time Iran violates the deal, the “breakout time” Iran needs to create a nuclear bomb is diminished. He warned, “Each of these actions were individually serious. Together, they now raise acute concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions.”
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas stated, “Our goal is clear: We want to preserve the accord and come to a diplomatic solution within the agreement. We will tackle this together with all partners in the agreement. We call on Iran to participate constructively in the negotiation process that is now beginning.”
Iran’s Foreign Ministry claimed there would be a “serious and strong response” to the new actions by the triumvirate of European countries. AP noted of the nuclear deal, “Iran last year began violating its limitations in stages … Following the drone strike in Iraq that killed Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Iran announced what it said was its fifth and final step in violating the deal, saying it would no longer abide by any limitation to its enrichment activities.”
Making sure they did not offend Iran too much, the three countries protested that they were not joining the Trump administration in its hard-line stance toward Iran, stating, “Our three countries are not joining a campaign to implement maximum pressure against Iran. Our hope is to bring Iran back into full compliance with its commitments.”
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell also dithered that this was not a hard-line move, stating that just because the three countries were implementing the dispute mechanism did not mean sanctions would be forthcoming. He said, “We have to preserve the nuclear deal and work to go back to full and effective implementation,” calling the nuclear deal a “significant achievement” and adding, “there is no alternative to this agreement.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry argued against the move, stating, “We see no reason for such a step,” calling it an “ill-considered decision” that could make a return to the original nuclear deal “unachievable.”
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in April 2018 that Iran had a comprehensive program, Project Amad, to design and develop nuclear weapons, which was carried out inside the Iranian Defense Ministry, a program whose existence Iran denied.
CBS News reported last September:
Iran has begun using arrays of advanced centrifuges to enrich uranium in violation of its 2015 nuclear deal, a spokesman said Saturday, warning that Europe has little time left to offer new terms to save the accord. The comments by Behrouz Kamalvandi of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran signal a further cut into the one year experts estimate Tehran would need to have a enough material for building a nuclear weapon if it chose to pursue one … Iran already has breached the stockpile and enrichment level limits set by the deal.
Then I read this article and was stunned.
Trump Calls for EU Takeover of the Middle East
The United States’ momentary show of force is leading to a full withdrawal from the region.
Following Iranian retaliation over the United States’ assassination of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force Gen. Qassem Suleimani, U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday called on nato to become more involved in the Middle East.
After the U.S. killed Suleimani, President Trump received significant backlash for the decision, including a lot of fearmongering that his decision would lead to an escalation of violence in the Middle East.
But Iran’s retaliation, which consisted of firing over a dozen ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Iraq, actually represented a deescalation in the situation. As Trumpet contributor Brent Nagtegaal wrote in his January 8 article, this was merely a “face-saving” attack. He added:
Contrary to how it will be painted in Iran, the missile strike against America will be seen elsewhere as a fundamentally weak response to the death of its arch-terrorist general. It was not an accident that Iran struck these U.S. bases with so many missiles and without the death of any U.S. servicemen.
As Nagtegaal suggested, because no U.S. servicemen were killed—Trump’s redline—the U.S. will not respond to the attack. However, in the president’s statement following Iran’s retaliation, Mr. Trump did make one significant announcement. He called on NATO to take on a bigger role in the Middle East, saying, “The civilized world must send a clear and unified message to the Iranian regime: ‘Your campaign of terror, murder, mayhem will not be tolerated any longer. It will not be allowed to go forward.’ Today, I am going to ask NATO to become much more involved in the Middle East process.”
Aside from the U.S., NATO is primarily comprised of European nations, so by asking NATO to become more involved in the Middle East, he is speaking directly to Europe. As Trumpet executive editor Stephen Flurry said in his January 9 Trumpet Daily Radio Show, “The stage is being set for the United States to hand over the Middle East to Europe.”
Through this statement, President Trump was also indirectly telling Iran that if the conditions are right, if Iran will stop threatening American interests, then the U.S. will leave the region. This sentiment is backed up by the letter sent to Iraq saying the U.S. would be pulling out its troops from the region. While U.S. officials backpedaled after the letter was released, saying it was a draft and the U.S. is not leaving now, it does reveal where this is all leading. Be assured, the U.S. will leave the Middle East.
And Germany is keen to lead the way in maintaining a military presence in Iraq.
On Friday, German-Foreign-Policy.com wrote (emphasis added):
German foreign politicians are pressing for a continuation of the Bundeswehr’s deployment in Iraq, bringing the withdrawal of U.S. troops into play and, at the same time, calling for stronger influential activities by the Western European powers in the Middle East. He can imagine that the United States “withdraws from the region” and, at the same time, “we Europeans are gaining” greater “weight in the region within the framework of a trans-Atlantic burden sharing,” explains the chairman of the cdu–csu parliamentary group for foreign policy, Roderich Kiesewetter.
These statements are extremely important in the light of Bible prophecy. The European Union is preparing to replace the U.S. in the Middle East.
Daniel 11:40 says, “And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.”
Regarding this verse, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry writes in his booklet The King of the South:
The stage is being set for an Islamic group of nations to be led by Iran as the prophesied king of the south, which will push at the king of the north, the European Union. The blatantly bold and aggressive foreign policy of Iran must lead to war. It will either conquer or be conquered. Bible prophecy makes it clear that Iran will be conquered—but not at the hand of America and Britain. …
A new superpower is rising in the European Union. The Bible labels this conglomerate the king of the north. It takes one king to topple another king.
The time when Britain and America were superpowers, or kings, is history!
President Trump is preparing for a U.S. withdrawal from the Middle East and pushing for the rise of the EU. This is leading to the direct fulfillment of this prophecy. A German-led Europe will crush Iran in this “time of the end,” and Germany is preparing for this role right now.
Keep watching as events unfold in the Middle East. While America displayed a show of force by taking out General Suleimani, it is only too eager to exit the region. Meanwhile, Germany is preparing to lead Europe into the emerging power vacuum in the Middle East. Your Bible foretold these exact events.
For more information on how this prophecy will be fulfilled, read Gerald Flurry’s free booklet The King of the South.
” Aaron will burn fragrant incense on the Golden Altar as a pleasing aroma every morning; he is to burn it when he prepares the lamps. Aaron is also to burn it when he lights the lamps at dusk; this is the regular burning of incense before Adonai through all your generations. You are not to offer unauthorized incense on it, or a burnt offering or a grain offering; and you are not to pour a drink offering on it.”-Exodus 30:7-9
The Lord issues a stern warning concerning the Altar of Incense (or Golden Altar).
No OTHER KIND OF INCENSE but what God authorizes is to be burned on this Altar.
The Hebrew word for “unlawful incense” being used here is KETORET ZARAH
Many bibles will use words like “unholy“, “strange“, “foreign“, or “alien” to translate this Hebrew and I think these are all acceptable.
The underlying meaning is that it is God alone and no one else who declares something holy.
It’s not like the ingredients used for the incense in and of themselves took on some magical quality when they were combined and then burned up.
God simply DECLARED them holy and that was that.
Right here, a profound principle is being demonstrated that reveals a distinct difference between the mindset of a pagan and a true monotheistic believer in the God of Israel.
Aaron will burn fragrant incense on it as a pleasing aroma every morning; he is to burn it when he prepares the lamps. Aharon is also to burn it when he lights the lamps at dusk; this is the regular burning of incense before Adonai through all your generations. You are not to offer unauthorized incense on it, or a burnt offering or a grain offering; and you are not to pour a drink offering on it.”-Exodus 30:7-9
In my last post about the Altar of Incense or the Golden altar, I talked about KETORET ZARAH which refers to “unauthorized incense”.
There is another underlying meaning of KETORET ZARAH that I didn’t go into last time.
In many of the other cultures of the time, it was common practice for pagan priests to burn incense to their gods.
And interestingly, incense was also used as a deodorizer to vanquish foul odors.
A variety of incenses were available for sale or barter on the market.
However, Israel was not only prohibited from using these other incenses, they weren’t even allowed to accept any incense from outside the nation of Israel.
Incense could NOT be outsourced.
KETORET means “incense” (but can also mean “bonding”).
ZARAH means “outsider”.
So another good way to translate KETORET ZARAH would be to call it “incense from an outsider”.
Later on we will be introduced to the term “strange fire”.
The Hebrew word for “strange fire” comes from the phrase we just learned: ZARAH.
So literally speaking, ZARAH means “outsider”.
Can you see how God is adding another layer to the wall meant to separate Israel from everyone else?
Now what is really exciting is how the rituals surrounding the Altar of Incense demonstrates that when we come to God in prayer, we must do so on His terms.
We cannot approach God in prayer anyway we like and expect Him to answer.
Let’s examine the procedures the High Priest had to go through and see how this is so.
FIRST, the High Priest had to be purified by the blood at the Altar of Sacrifice (the brazen altar).
The High Priest had to perform an animal sacrifice once in the morning, and then later in the evening at the Brazen Altar.
The lesson here is that before we can come to God in prayer (remember the burning incense of the Golden Altar symbolizes prayer) we must be purified by the blood of the sacrifice just as the High Priest had to do.
For believers today, the Cross is the true altar of sacrifice that the Brazen Altar pointed to and Yeshua is the sacrificial animal that purifies.
SECOND, just as the High Priest did his ritual washing with the Brazen Laver, we also must be washed clean by means of water.
Yeshua says He is our Living Water.
The Scriptures tell us that we must be washed clean by Him before we can approach the Father.
The ritual water washing also represents confessing and repenting of our sins.
We must leave our sins behind before approaching the Lord with our prayers, just as the priests had to wash away the dirt and soil from their feet and hands before they approached the Lord.
FINALLY, after being purified by the blood of the sacrificial animal and cleansed by the water, then the High Priest enters the Holy Place to approach the Altar of Incense.
In Moses’ time, the Holy Place was a tent and then later it would become a wood and stone building called the Temple.
Just as the priests in Moses’ day had to be purified and cleansed before gaining access into the Holy Place, we also must be purified and cleansed by Yeshua before the Holy Spirit will come to dwell within us.
Today, the sanctuary is literally the disciples of Yeshua.
I also wanted to add that the coals the High Priest added to the top of the Altar of Incense had to be taken from the Brazen Altar.
So laid out right here for us in the Book of Exodus is a template or a model if you will for how we are to approach the Lord in prayer.
Finally, I have a feeling there may be some skeptics out there who might take issue with me claiming that the Altar of Incense symbolizes prayer.
Some of you may be thinking that that’s just a bunch a allegorical sentimental spiritualizing nonsense.
Well, brace yourself, because I’m going to share some undeniable New Testament evidence that the smoke of the incense does indeed represent prayer that has BEEN MADE ACCEPTABLE to the Lord.
Check out the below NT verses below and prepare to be blown away!
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“When the Lamb broke the 7th seal, there was silence in heaven for what seemed like half an hour. Then I saw the 7 angels who stand before God, and they were given 7 shofars.
Another angel came and stood at the altar with a gold incense bowl, and he was given a large quantity of incense to add to the prayers of all God’s people on the gold altar in front of the throne.
The smoke of the incense went up with the prayers of God’s people from the hand of the angel before God.” (Revelations 8:1-4)
Giving to the Needy
Mat 6:1 Take heed that you do not do your merciful deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward with your Father in Heaven.
Mat 6:2 Therefore when you do your merciful deeds, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may have glory from men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:3 But when you do merciful deeds, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does,
Mat 6:4 so that your merciful deeds may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret Himself shall reward you openly.
The Lord’s Prayer
Mat 6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:6 But you, when you pray, enter into your room. And shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.
Mat 6:7 But when you pray, do not babble vain words, as the nations. For they think that in their much speaking they shall be heard.
Mat 6:8 Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him.
Mat 6:9 Therefore pray in this way: Our Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Our Father in Heaven, May Your name be sanctified
Our father in heaven wants to hear from you. He has set aside three times a day when He will receive you. The Morning prayers about 9 AM, the Noon Prayers and the Evening prayers about 3 PM. We need to raise our hands and give Him praise for all He has done to enlighten us in these last days.
He has shown us His name and shown us that it is not God, and it is not Yahweh. He has shown us His name is Yehovah and tells us in Revelation.
Rev 3:8 I know your works. Behold, I have given before you an open door, and no one can shut it. For you have a little strength and have kept My Word and have not denied My name.
Rev 3:10 Because you have kept the Word of My patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation which will come upon all the habitable world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.
Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly. Hold fast to that which you have, so that no one may take your crown.
We all need to hang on. We are not a rich group but we are blessed to come to know Him.
Mat 6:10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
May Your Kingdom be blessed. Your Will shall be done in Heaven and on Earth.
We eagerly await the time when His Kingdom will be here and we know the year this is going to happen. We pray that we can be a part of this Kingdom and serve under King David. We pray our children will be servants in the Kingdom with King David as our King. And we realize that David will be the example of what Yehovah will be when He does come at the start of the 8th Millennium. This is what all the Holy Days show us and why we are keeping them to learn more about His plan for us.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread;
Give us our bread continually / daily
This is not the ‘name it and claim it’ gospel that some teach. We give thanks for the food we have had all our lives and pray that Yehovah will continue to fill our needs every day. This becomes more urgent as we enter this time of Jacobs Trouble.
Mat 6:12 and forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors.
Forgive us the debts of our sins as we forgive the debt of those who sin against us.
How many of you still hate your parents for things they did to you while you were a child? How many hate your brethren because they insulted you or said or did something that you think is wrong according to Torah? They say the name differently than you. Their kids are not angels like yours are on Sabbath. Never forget that the servant who had his debts forgiven could not forgive others.
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
Mat 18:10 Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I say to you that in Heaven their angels always behold the face of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 18:11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.
Mat 18:12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays, does he not leave the ninety and nine and go into the mountains and seek the straying one?
Mat 18:13 And if it happens that he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety and nine which did not stray.
Mat 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father in Heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
If Your Brother Sins Against You
Mat 18:15 But if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear you, take one or two more with you, so that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he neglects to hear the church, let him be to you as a heathen and a tax-collector.
Mat 18:18 Truly I say to you, Whatever you shall bind on earth shall occur, having been bound in Heaven; and whatever you shall loose on earth shall occur, having been loosed in Heaven.
Mat 18:19 Again I say to you that if two of you shall agree on earth as regarding anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by My Father in Heaven.
Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
Mat 18:21 Then Peter came to Him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Until seven times?
Mat 18:22 Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.
Mat 18:23 Therefore the kingdom of Heaven has been compared to a certain king who desired to make an accounting with his servants.
Mat 18:24 And when he had begun to count, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
Mat 18:25 But as he had nothing to pay, his lord commanded that he, and his wife and children, and all that he had, be sold, and payment be made.
Mat 18:26 Then the servant fell down and worshiped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me and I will pay you all.
Mat 18:27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion and released him and forgave him the debt.
Mat 18:28 But the same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. And he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe.
Mat 18:29 And his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, Have patience with me and I will pay you all.
Mat 18:30 And he would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay the debt.
Mat 18:31 So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry. And they came and told their lord all that was done.
Mat 18:32 Then his lord, after he had called him, said to him, O wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.
Mat 18:33 Should you not also have pitied your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you?
Mat 18:34 And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.
Mat 18:35 So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also to you, unless each one of you from your hearts forgive his brother their trespasses.
Yehovah has paid your debt for your sins that you did against Him. Each time you sinned you drove the nail into His hands and feet. Each time you returned to your evil ways you threw another stone at Him hitting Him while He was on the tree. He did all of this for His love for you, 2,000 years before you were even born. He did not get rid of the law, he paid the penalty that you were supposed to pay. He does not want to see you hurt or suffer. But you must obey. You must keep the commandments. You must put sin out of your lives and keep it out.
I Never Knew You
Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!
Build Your House on the Rock
Mat 7:24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
Mat 7:25 And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house. And it did not fall, for it was founded on a rock.
Mat 7:26 And everyone who hears these sayings of Mine and does not do them shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
Mat 7:27 And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the wind blew and beat on that house. And it fell, and great was its fall.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
and protect us from all evil.
Mat 6:14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
Mat 6:15 but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Our Father is standing at the edge of His Kingdom and He is looking for you. He is waiting for you to get it figured out and to come back to Him.
The Parable of the Prodigal Son
Luk 15:11 And He said, A certain man had two sons.
Luk 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that is coming to me. And he divided his living to them.
Luk 15:13 And not many days afterward, the younger son gathered all together and went away into a far country. And there he wasted his property, living dissolutely.
Luk 15:14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land. And he began to be in want.
Luk 15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country. And he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
Luk 15:16 And he was longing to fill his belly with the husks that the pigs ate, and no one gave to him.
Luk 15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father abound in loaves, and I perish with hunger!
Luk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you
Luk 15:19 and am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.
Luk 15:20 And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
Luk 15:21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you, and am no more worthy to be called your son.
Luk 15:22 But the father said to his servants, Bring the best robe and put it on him. And put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet.
Luk 15:23 And bring the fattened calf here and kill it. And let us eat and be merry,
Luk 15:24 for this my son was dead and is alive again, he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry.
Luk 15:25 And his elder son was in the field. And as he came and drew near the house, he heard music and dancing.
Luk 15:26 And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.
Luk 15:27 And he said to him, Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him safe and sound.
Luk 15:28 And he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and entreated him.
Luk 15:29 And answering he said to his father, Lo, these many years I have served you, neither did I transgress your commandment at any time. And yet you never gave me a kid so that I might make merry with
Luk 15:30 But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you have killed for him the fattened calf.
Luk 15:31 And he said to him, Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.
Luk 15:32 It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
There is a golden dish that is empty and in need of your prayers to fill it
Numbers 7:62 one gold dish weighing ten shekels, filled with incense;
Psalm 141:2 May my prayer be set before You like incense, my uplifted hands like the evening offering.
Acts 10:4 Cornelius stared at him in fear and asked, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have ascended as a memorial offering before God.
The people who do this work need your help in prayers. We need to get things in order for your arrival in the place Yehovah has chosen. But we cannot do it alone. We cannot do it and have you expect it all to be taken care of for you. We need some Yehovah sent miracles right now to part this sea in front of us.
Have you considered this text in Revelation? Notice that the elders have bowls of incense.
The Scroll and the Lamb
Rev 5:1 And I saw a book on the right of Him sitting on the throne, written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.
Rev 5:2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book and to loosen its seals?
Rev 5:3 And no one in Heaven, nor on the earth, nor under the earth, was able to open the book or to look at it.
Rev 5:4 And I wept very much, because no one was found worthy to open and to read the book, nor to look at it.
Rev 5:5 And one of the elders said to me, Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book and to loose the seven seals of it.
Rev 5:6 And I looked, and lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, amidst the elders, a Lamb stood, as if it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Rev 5:7 And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him sitting on the throne.
Rev 5:8 And when He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having harps and golden vials full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Rev 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying, You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for You were slain and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation.
Rev 5:10 And You made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign over the earth.
Rev 5:11 And I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and the living creatures and the elders. And the number of them was myriads and myriads, and thousands of thousands,
Rev 5:12 saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
Rev 5:13 And I heard every creature which is in the Heaven and on the earth, and under the earth, and those that are in the sea, and all who are in them, saying, Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him sitting on the throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever.
Rev 5:14 And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the One living forever and ever.
And as I prepare this News Letter, it occurs to me that maybe, just maybe those bowls might be very empty right now from a lack of prayers from us.
The ketoret (incense) offering was perhaps the most prestigious service in the Mishkan (Tabernacle) and in the Holy Temple. The ketoret consisted of a special blend of herbs and balms whose precise ingredients and manner of preparation were commanded by G-d to Moses.
Throughout the year, the ketoret was burned twice daily on the golden or “inner” altar that stood within the inner section of Temple, distinct from the outdoor copper altar upon which animal sacrifices and libations were brought.1 Additionally, the highlight of the Yom Kippur service was the High Priest entering the Holy of Holies with a pan of smoldering coals in one hand and a ladle filled with ketoret in the other, and then placing the ketoret over the coals and leaving once it was filled with the fragrant smoke.2
The Torah describes an episode in the desert when the Israelites were struck with a plague due to their complaining and blaming Moses and Aaron for the deaths of Korach and his cohorts. Moses tells Aaron to take a firepan with incense and go among the congregation and atone for their sins. Aaron does this and stands “between the living and the dead,” and the plague is halted.3
So what was the ketoret and why was it such a significant part of the Temple service?
What Was It?
The incense offering was prepared every year. Just preparing it was a divine commandment, as the verse states: “And you take spices . . .”4 There were 11 spices, four of which are explicitly mentioned in the Torah, and the rest of which were communicated orally to Moses and are part of the Oral Tradition.
But although the Talmud lists the names of the ingredients of the ketoret, there are differing opinions as to what herbs these names refer to. The English translation below is mostly based on Maimonides’ description and list in his Mishneh Torah5 of the ingredients in Arabic. (The list of Hebrew names is from the Talmud. The first four items are named in the Torah itself.)
In addition to the 11 spices that would be measured out by exact weight, they would also add salt of Sodom and Jordanian amber. Another two ingredients (vetch lye and “caper wine”) were used in preparation of the tziporen (onycha) spice.
There was also a special herb, referred to simply as maaleh ashan (“makes smoke rise”), that would produce a pillar of smoke that rose straight up rather than spread out. The identity of the herb was a secret that was closely guarded by members of the Avitnus family, who made the incense based on the tradition of their ancestors.
(These final ingredients did not produce aromas of their own and are therefore not counted among the 11 spices.)
The 11-ingredient mixture was finely ground, and then a fourth of a kab (a volume equal to approx 1376 cc9 ) of the salt of Sodom and a small amount of Jordanian amber and the smoke-raising herb were added. A maneh of it was burned every day on the golden altar—a half a maneh in the morning, and another half toward the evening.
The entire mixture was 368 maneh. 365 maneh in each batch corresponded to the 365 days of the solar year. On the day before Yom Kippur, the three remaining maneh were finely ground once again, and the High Priest would take a handful to offer on Yom Kippur in the Holy of Holies (see footnote for why it was done this way and how this amount is reconciled with the fact that the Jewish calendar usually has 10-12 fewer days than the solar calendar).10
The Talmud relates that since offering the incense would bring blessings of wealth to the one who offered it on the altar, it was decided that as many different priests as possible should have an opportunity to do this service. Thus, no priest was assigned this task more than once in his lifetime.11
One With G?d
The Lubavitcher Rebbe explains that while the Hebrew word for “offering” is korban, which means “close,” the word for “incense,” ketoret, reflects the Aramaic word keter, which means “bond.” Although an offering brought one close to G?d, being close doesn’t necessarily mean you bonded; you can be a separate entity that is merely close to G?d. With the ketoret, one would bond and be connected to G?d.
When one brought an offering in the Temple, in essence he was uplifting the mundane and physical to the Divine. Hence, he brought a physical animal or meal offering on the altar. With the incense, the purpose was for the person himselfto connect to the Divine through the ketoret.
In other words, the offerings reflected the uplifting and rectifying of the more outer dimensions of the person —thought, speech and action— and directing them to the service of G-d, while the sublime fragrance of the ketoret represented the inner and essential connection that we all have to G-d. When this connection is revealed, then automatically all of our other aspects, including thought, speech and action, are directed and become connected to the Divine.
