In the summer of 2005, I had finished my research of the Biblical Calendar. I felt a need to research the deeper meaning of the Holy Days as explained to us in the Bible. I felt I was going through the motions of keeping the Holy Days but missing the deeper significance of the observances. In other words, I was falling asleep.
What I did not want to happen to me was what had happened to the Jews when the Messiah (Yahshua) came. They were very knowledgeable about Scripture and could recite it inside and out. But they did not understand the true meaning of Scripture. They did not get the real meaning of the Holy Days, and when the Messiah was in their midst, they did not recognize Him and they crucified Him.
Even though the Jews knew the Torah and kept the Holy Days at the appointed times, when the Messiah came, they missed it. They killed Him as they had done unto many of the prophets who were sent to Jerusalem by God (Yahweh).
After AD 324, Emperor Constantine changed everything that resembled Judaism, and reverted back to the pagan religious ceremonies after Christ’s death and called them “Christian.†The Jews, from that time on, would never come to follow the Messiah, Yahshua the Nazarene, as He no longer was Jewish, but was now a pagan deity. Prior to Constantine’s paganization of all things Jewish, however, the Jewish people were coming to know the Messiah by the thousands.
Have we, at this late date, with history to aid us and such a wealth of information right at our fingertips, yet steeped in our own self righteousness, missed the deeper meaning of the Holy Days as well? Have we assumed that by strictly keeping the Sabbath we have arrived? Do we honestly think it is enough just to show up for weekly services on Shabbat? Have we, in our shallowness, missed the message our God (Elohim) has been speaking to us all along because we do not have ears to hear?
Have we, in our tolerant society, become more tolerant than Yahweh on all issues of morality? Because we will not sh’ma (obey) His Laws, we all suffer from our tolerance. And yet, our tolerance is intolerable. Our Father is longing to show us just how intolerable our tolerance is to Him. If we would only listen—if we would only just listen. How sad that statement is! We do not even have the time to listen to our Father. Very few of us ever routinely open the Bible to actually read what it says, and fewer of us still ever delve deeply into the biblical precepts contained therein.
You are no doubt saying to yourself, “How am I not listening to my Father?†Those of you who listen to others as authorities have forsaken doing your own research and your own reading of the Torah, the Prophets and the Psalms. Some of you have become lazy and allowed other men to become authorities over you, not only telling you what to think and how to think; but also requiring of you to keep silent regarding the truth of our Father, Yahweh, and His good and perfect will. His will is for us to keep His Commandments. This is how we know we love Him, if we keep His Commandments. But you say, “We are!†Are you?
What I find to be most alarming is the fact that there are those of us who have gone to church for years and have never even bothered to read the Bible from cover to cover. What a sad testament. It used to be that if you had never read the Bible in its entirety you were considered ignorant, no matter how formally educated you were in all other respects.
When you put a frog in boiling water, it will immediately jump out because the water is so hot. Conversely, if you put a frog in the water while the water is still cool, it will not jump out. If you then gradually turn up the heat until the water is boiling, the frog will still not jump out. It will stay there and boil to death never knowing why it died.
What if, my friend, YOU are that FROG?! You are in the boiling pot of water and do not even know it. Some of you suspect you might be in the pot only to quickly dismiss the notion. “No, it could not be happening to me, I would have noticed,†you say; or, “My pastor surely would have said something to me by now.â€
You seek to gain deeper insight into world events and try to see if there is any prophetic meaning to be found, pouring over every little news item that comes before you; yet not seeing the writing on the wall, you mistakenly conclude that life goes on as usual. You look so hard at everything on the periphery; you can’t even see the truth standing right in front of you. It is high time we stop majoring on the minors and minoring on the majors— and come to only find ourselves straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel. WAKE UP! Your very life is at stake!
If we were to bring back a gentleman from the 1880’s, he would be mortified at the gross lack of morality and indecency of our deeply eroded society. He would be positively stunned at what we are willing to tolerate and do absolutely nothing about. We have come to expect murders in our cities every day. We know that our cars could potentially be stolen, whether we leave the keys in them or not. Every day we are subjected to scams and con artists—either in person or through advertising, openly telling us lies right to our face and causing us to covet anything and everything under the Sun.
It has become ‘the norm’ for children to be disrespectful to parents and consent to premarital sex. It is also normal now for young girls to dress like hookers at age 13, and for teenage boys to brag about the number of times they have had sex. It has become all too commonplace to hear the latest music talk revolve around songs with themes involving sex, drugs, murder and rape. It is OK now for homosexual couples to marry, adopt children, and put pressure on public schools to ensure their curriculums promote the worldview that the gay lifestyle is an acceptable and normal lifestyle. We have become quite used to the idea of God being removed from every public building and facet of our society to where He is no longer allowed to be taught in our public schools—hence, the separation of church and state.
We have allowed ourselves to become so immoral that we do not even comprehend the heights from which we have fallen. We tolerate so much and have become so desensitized to the immorality that is all around us. We are that frog that cannot sense the water is already boiling. We have gotten used to the ‘NEW NORMAL,’ which has now permeated nearly every aspect of our culture.
Even we, who keep the Holy Days and the Sabbaths? Yes, even us! Sound the trumpet and thoroughly examine yourself during the ten Days of Awe to make atonement for yourself. Do you see how you too have given into the ‘New Normal,’ causing your white garments to become soiled as a result? Stand back and take a look at how you also have become desensitized to the boiling water that is threatening to completely envelop you.
In Ezekiel we read why it is so critical for us to do this:
1Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, “Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand.†2 And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer’s inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar. 3 Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn at his side; 4 and the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.†5 To the others He said in my hearing, “Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity.
6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary.†So they began with the elders who were before the temple. 7 Then He said to them, “Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!†And they went out and killed in the city. 8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?†9 Then He said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see!’ 10 And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head.†11 Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, “I have done as You commanded me.†(Ezekiel 9:1-11)
I ask you again, do you mourn the bloodshed, the perversity and the ungodliness of the land that is all around us here in Israel (Anglo-Saxon peoples) and in Judah (the State of Israel and the Jewish people)? Are you deeply troubled in regards to what is going on in our society all around us? Or is it just a societal ‘norm’ and you too, have long since become acclimated to the water?
I say this to you to not only shake you up, but to wake you up from your slumber. In the Gospel of Matthew it speaks of the ten virgins waiting for the Bridegroom. They all fall asleep. I tell you He is coming and I beseech you to WAKE UP!
Do not believe me! I am nothing more than a ‘lowly’ ditch digger. I have no theological training. I have not had hands laid on me to elevate me to the status of a deacon, elder or any such position. Yahweh has not come to me by dreams, visions or by voice. I have heard nothing said to me. No, I am of no importance, so do not believe me. But BELIEVE THE TORAH. As you too can read the same Scriptures I have and understand if you ask Him to open your mind and your spiritual eyes so you might see. But you must humbly ask Him. Again I say, do not believe me, but allow Torah to prove to you what I cannot for the working out of your own salvation.
