News Letter 5844-035
22th day of the Eighth month 5844 years after creation
November 22, 2008
Shabbat Shalom Brethren,
Since doing this News Letter I have met some very strange and some very interesting people, and every once in a while I find a gem. I want to introduce you to a peach of a couple.
Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin wanted to do something to help get this message out that I teach about in the Jubilee. They asked if they could give away the DVD to those who could not afford it.
We did this.
They then asked if they could give away some books on how to keep the Sabbath. We did this too.
They then asked if they could do the DVD again and it only got three results. Disappointed they asked me if they could try one more time. They had set aside funds for 15 DVDs. They have been over whelmed with the latest results and I will let you read what happened in their own words.
Please pray for them and that more like them come forward. Also know that as of now they can not take any more orders for the free DVD. You can still buy it yourself from the Prophecy Club.
Shalom Mr. Dumond,
Okay – this has been sort of a whirlwind ride since last week, so here goes: Last week we only received one DVD of the three we had originally ordered from The Prophecy Club from our first offer. They told me they would send me the other two copies, only when I went to pick up my mail today, the envelope contained only one.
To say the least, I wasn’t happy, but tried to remain calm. I came home and prayed before I called them on saying the things I should say and not what I wanted to say. After speaking with Mr. Johnson’s son, Sean, about how upset I was over the 3 DVD order, I told him that there was another problem: We need 50 more (though the offer was only for 15), but we had set aside enough monies for only 15 as we were giving them away to people who asked for a copy. So he sold us 50 DVDs for 500 dollars plus 20 dollars postage (the 15 would have cost 450 dollars plus postage).
Now is this awesome or what!?!?! Praise YAHWEH!
You know He did this!!!!
Please, please pray for us that these 50 will actually arrive and in perfect working condition. If all goes accordingly, this means 53 DVDs will be given away! Wow!
Could you do us a favor, though? We have reached maximum capacity. Is it possible to notify your readers of this? A few trickled in today, so we doubt there will be many more; we just hate to turn anyone down. The requests have come in from Canada, South Africa, Kenya, Sri Lanka, the UK and US, and Holland.
My goodness, this is just too incredible for words.
Thank you, thank you so much for everything!
Also in the news this week the stock market continues its fall. All the stock markets around the world are falling. Some times there is too much information to give in the News Letter. SO go to the forum area and check under economic dangers once in while to stay abreast of things.
This stock market melt down is the exact thing I said would have to take place in order for the next thing to happen in Yahweh’s curses of Lev 26. That next thing was famine. And this famine is aimed at your children. Pestilence is coming with it and it too is aimed at your children. Keep on doubting me if you want, but maybe you will believe the nightly news.
Monday night on the McNeil Lehr News Hour it was reported that last year the US had 400,000 children go hungry from a lack of money for food. The report went on to say that this year the number was 700,000 children that went with out food in the USA due to the many layoffs and foreclosures that were happening. And they expect this number to rise sharply in the months and year ahead.
Many parents struggle with paying the rent or buying food. In order to make ends meet they skip meals to save money so they can pay the rent or mortgage. I have reported on this in previous News Letters.
Hmmmm, are you scratching your head yet. Do you think those things in the DVD were made up by me? No, they were not! They were told by Yahweh thousands of years ago, and all I did was read my bible and believe what it said, and that Yahweh will do what He says and that He does not change.
Before we begin this weeks lesson, I have one more thing to say. I have in the past placed an ad in the Journal magazine. I will do so again very soon. This Journal is read by many of the Church of God brethren. The cost is about $175 per month.
I have also had on going ads on KMLS FM radio since October. These are costing me $300 per month although they would gladly do it for nothing. A great deal. About 3 Million listeners , mostly Orthodox and Messianic believers.
I wanted to place an ad on the local radio for about $800 per month. It covers the whole of Toronto and Ottawa, and Calgary. About 6 million listeners. Mostly non religious.
Then I came across World Net Daily News. They advertise With 6-8 million unique visitors and between 20-30 million page views each month, WND attracts more traffic than seven of the 10 top newspapers sites – including the L.A. Times, WSJ Online and the New York Post! Our readers are well-educated, engaged in the issues that affect society and eager to patronize companies that support their favourite news source. WorldNetDaily gets results.
And they want $4200 per month for front page exposure.
Brethren I have just over $2000 in the vault. I am going to use it where I can. But I am going to need you help. As many of know I do not receive any money for the DVD. Nor do I accept tithes as I am not a Levite nor am I working in the Temple. I have over the past couple of years received $450 dollars in gifts.
I want to run the ads for the DVD and the web site and the News Letter, during the next three months as more people will have time to read during the upcoming holidays and as more people get a laid off due to the looming recession.
I am trying to reach as many people as I can with what little I have to warn them of the coming Sabbatical year. They have to have time to study the facts and prove it. Then to ask questions, and then to stock up on food if they so choose. But we only have 4 months until the Sabbatical year starts.
If you are in a position where you can help, please look for my address in the contact area. If you can not help with in this area, I also believe more in prayers than anything else. Please help by praying that Yahweh will open a door that His message may go out to all of Israel where ever they are. In order for this to happen we will need a miracle, because I do not have the ability to do this.
I know many of you take the News Letter each week and send it to others or print it and take it to others. I know many are sharing and talking about the DVD in their Home groups, and on other forums. This is all awesome and great. But it is not enough.
We currently have about 8600 readers. And our hit counter is at ¼ of a million hits in just two years. Again this is awesome, and again it is not enough.
The third curse is set to start after 2010. It is aimed at the children of all those who do not keep the commandments whether by ignorance or on purpose. Whether they are gentles or believers. And Just as Yahweh sent the Jews who kept the Sabbath and the Holy Days into captivity, he will send you and every one else into captivity as well. He is going to do this because they did not keep the Sabbatical years, back in the days of the Nation of Israel and Judah, nor do they do so now.
But before that captivity He is going to send famine and pestilence, and it is to rob you of your children, and your nieces and nephews and neighbours kids. This number will be world wide and will be in the millions. This is what motivates me to do the things I am doing with this web site and this news letter and the radio and these ads. Please help me to get the job done.
If you know of another ad place let me know. I need one good place in the SDA ministry, and other COG’s.
This weeks message.
How I am going to keep the Sabbatical year.
Brethren I have been receiving more and more e-mails asking me exactly how do we keep the Sabbatical Year Holy. I will share these e-mails with you all as they do ask some very good questions which we shall address today.
But first of all lets go to Yahweh and read His torah to understand what is being asked of us. Lev 25:1 And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a sabbath to the Lord. 3 Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; 4 but in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the Lord. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard. 5 What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land. 6 And the sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you: for you, your male and female servants, your hired man, and the stranger who dwells with you, 7 for your livestock and the beasts that are in your land–all its produce shall be for food.
We are told here that we are to ‘neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard.’
We are also told ‘What grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine’
We are also told that we can eat what grows of itself, ‘6 And the sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you:
Then Yahweh answer the question that many of you have asked me in verse 20 And if you say, “What shall we eat in the seventh year, since we shall not sow nor gather in our produce?” 21 Then I will command My blessing on you in the sixth year, and it will bring forth produce enough for three years. 22 And you shall sow in the eighth year, and eat old produce until the ninth year; until its produce comes in, you shall eat of the old harvest.
When we read verse 21 we are told in actual fact to store enough food to last three years.
But many forget to look in Deut 15 for more information on the Sabbatical year.
1 “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. 2 And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release. 3 Of a foreigner you may require it; but you shall give up your claim to what is owed by your brother, 4 except when there may be no poor among you; for the Lord will greatly bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance– 5 only if you carefully obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe with care all these commandments which I command you today. 6 For the Lord your God will bless you just as He promised you; you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; you shall reign over many nations, but they shall not reign over you. 7 “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. 9 Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. 10 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11 For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’
12 “If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13 And when you send him away free from you, you shall not let him go away empty-handed; 14 you shall supply him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From what the Lord has blessed you with, you shall give to him. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today. 16 And if it happens that he says to you, ‘I will not go away from you,’ because he loves you and your house, since he prospers with you, 17 then you shall take an awl and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise. 18 It shall not seem hard to you when you send him away free from you; for he has been worth a double hired servant in serving you six years. Then the Lord your God will bless you in all that you do.
In Israel this year I met a friend whom I had not seen in a few years. He and his wife had been reading the News Letter and wanted to share something with me that I had not understood.
Their letter to me;
We are all well and miss you. We pray all is well and from your news letter sounds like you did not waste any time after your return from Israel.
I am writing as you asked me and just wanted to drop you an e-mail about Isa 58:1. I am glad the spirit has showed you this. The reason is because the fast that man has done in the past in the Hebrew is a verb. An action that you start something but in time you stop doing. Example: You fast with food, you stop eating and than you start eating again. But in Isa 58 Yahweh is telling us that the fast He wants us to do is to REALEASE the bonds of wrongness, feed the hungry, give cloths to the naked(cloths and torah) and those that have been cast out bring into your home and do the desire of the Father. These things we are to do and never go back to not doing them.
This fast in the Hebrew is a noun. Look it up they are two different words. You will also see this in Zec 7:3-14. In Matt 6:12. also for your study Yahshua shows us how to pray, forgive us our debts(every seven years you have a release of debts deu 15) as we forgive our debtors. And perhaps Yahshua was telling us that when we fast Matt 6:16 do not disfigure your face like the actors do because in their hearts there is no truth but you anoint your self and fill full all righteousness.(psalm 119:172.) This is not something you do for 24hrs and then go back to what you were doing before. Turn back to Me says Yahweh and I will remember your sins no more. I believe the fast that Yahweh wants us to do is never ending. I call it a Yahweh fast. A fast from wrongness, a fast from being greedy, a fast from unforgiving, a fast from being self righteous. The sabatical and Jubilees teach us how to do Yahweh’s fast. Isa 58:6.
May Yahweh bless you and keep you and your family well.
Much love your younger brother in Jordan
We are called by Yahshua to forgive our debtors. We are forgiven our debts by the same way we forgive others theirs. Peter asked how often we should forgive our brother and Yahshua said in
Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. 28 But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 30 And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. 31 So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. 32 Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. 33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ 34 And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. 35 So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”
Isaiah 58:1 “Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek Me daily, And delight to know My ways, As a nation that did righteousness, And did not forsake the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; They take delight in approaching God.
3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and You have not seen? Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’ “In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, And exploit all your laborers. 4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day, To make your voice heard on high. 5 Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the Lord? 6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. 9 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, 10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday. 11 The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. 12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. 13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, 14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
What we have now seen is that the forgiveness of sin or of debt is similar or tied into fasting. As my brother from Jordan has said our fast is to loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
And as we are told in Deuteronomy 15: .
Even though we know the Sabbatical year is about to come and the poor ask us to loan them some money we are not to think that if we give them the money they will not pay it back because of the law of the Sabbatical year which forgives all debt. No rather we should lend them anyway and trust in Yahweh.
My Jordanian friend and his wife have a rule that they use each week and they shared it with me. Instead of waiting for the Sabbatical year to forgive each other their debts or to forgive each other their sins, with each Shabbat they have chosen to forgive each other what ever trespasses they have caused each other. To forgive and forget.
WOW. What would this do to so many marriages today? If they would completely forgive each other at least once a week there would be far less domestic disputes. I thank my two friends for this great insight. Now consider this in light of Isaiah 58 and the fast that is pleasing to our Father. To be doing good all the time and not just on the assigned days.
But lets get back to the subject for this weeks News Letter. How to Keep the Sabbatical year?
Dear Mr. Dumond,
In your latest newsletter, dated 11/2/2208, you stated: “You Brethren are the ones who need to repent and to change in order to escape the plagues which are already upon us. The question now is will you change, or will you continue to rebel and resist Yahweh?”
Okay, let me begin ahead of your comment. Back a few months ago when I offered the books on the Sabbath, several people requested books from me on how to celebrate the Holy Days. I told them I only had a few personal books on the shelf, but each one offered a different approach. Though the need was there, I didn’t have any sufficient books to even suggest on the subject matter. After several e-mails of this nature it occurred to me that some people want to keep the Holy Days and Sabbath – they just don’t know how.
Now, with that being said, we’re approaching a Sabbatical Year. Though I’ve known for a long time we should have been keeping it, we didn’t. Why? Because we didn’t know how. And here’s the rub: If people don’t know how to properly keep the Sabbath and Holy Days, how are they going to prepare for a Sabbatical Year? I find myself exceedingly flustered – no – downright stressed over what to do. Storing up enough food to last for approximately 1 1/2 years is not the simplest thing to do. Back when the Israelites lived in the Promised Land – a land flowing with milk and honey – they possessed vineyards, groves, raised their own crops.
Unfortunately, most of us do not live like the Israelites, nor are we like the Amish. At best, some of us might have a small backyard or container garden. We do not have access to fruit trees or bushes, nor do we know anyone who has such. Granted, I might know that when my winter cabbage comes in,
I can cut it at the base then carve an “X” into the top of the remaining stem, and it will propagate smaller cabbages. Or that properly stored garlic and onions will last for a year, but most raw vegetables do not. Oh, you can purchase cans of food and attempt to live off of them, but the nutritional value is poor and the risk of aluminum build-up is great. I can buy olive oil and store it back (it usually has a two-year shelf life), only some of the oil on store shelves is close to the
expiration date, and you won’t know until you call the distributor to have them decipher the date code on the bottle. And once opened, the oil has a shelf life of 10-12 weeks, unless refrigerated and will last up to a year. Oil turning rancid is a serious thing with serious consequences to the human body. Fortunately, coconut oil has a more stable shelf life. And furthermore, if people store up grains (like wheat, barley, rye, oats) and use them as their main staple, they run the risk of suffering serious health issues. Most people don’t realize that 1 out of every 7 people are gluten intolerant and 1 out of every 133 people have Celiac Disease. (Death by loaf of bread isn’t a pleasant way to go.) And then you run the risk of developing Scurvy from lack of Vitamin C sufficient foods. And a person can’t live off meat and fish, though many have tried.
Then you run into another problem: if you want to eat foods with a greater nutritional value than canned, you have to buy frozen. Now you have to figure out
where to store enough frozen foods to last 1 1/2 years. Chest freezers aren’t very expensive, but you have to find a place to put it. Or if you want to go all
out, purchase a dehydrator (supposedly food dehydration maintains more of the plant’s enzymes). Granted, I’ve not purchased either a chest freezer or dehydrator as of yet, but most people cannot afford these luxuries. And for those of us who don’t harvest our own crops, the upfront expense is incredible (though I remind my husband of all the money we’ll save next year at the grocery store).
We live in a “I need something to eat, so I’m going to the grocery store” society. My husband and I have discussed at length how can we sustain ourselves
without fresh fruit and vegetables for that amount of time. This is a serious, serious issue. Many times I’ve come close to throwing up my hands and just
forgetting about it. Don’t take me wrong, but you are a man, and most men don’t consider these things, otherwise they would have been addressed in your weekly newsletter. You seem to be (and correct me if I’m wrong) looking at this from the standpoint if we don’t “repent and . . . change” we will receive the curses of Yahweh upon us. That’s true – I know it to be true, BUT I can’t believe for a moment that I’m the only one out here who wants to keep this coming Sabbatical Year, yet doesn’t know what to do without access to fresh fruit and vegetables. It’s like giving someone the materials to build a house without instructions or guidance. Again, if people don’t know how to keep a weekly Sabbath or the Holy Days properly, how can they be expected to keep a Sabbatical Year?
Then this week I also was sent this question;
Dear Mr. Dummond:
First: Thank you for your time and effort to teach us on your Sighted Moon sight and newsletters.
Second: Question: How does one store up fresh veggies and perishables for over a year? We (my husband and I) would find it impossible not to eat fresh vegetables. Lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, onions and such. These do not grow of themselves and therefore must be stored ahead. We have gone through some tough financial times in the past and have cut food spending via no fresh vegies. Always a health problem started. Storing grains and pastas are not a problem. A certain amount of canned food no problem. However, when we lived solely off our canned goods there was serious health deterioration. Not complaining. Just would like to obey but am frustrated and confused. Thank you again for your patients and teaching.
Lets begin to answer this by reading Deuteronomy 8:10-20
10 When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you. 11 “Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and His statutes which I command you today, 12 lest–when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell in them; 13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; 14 when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; 16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end– 17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’ 18 And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
We are to not forget from whom the blessings we have received come from. We are warned that when we are full we should not forget that it is Yahweh who has blessed us.
But we are also told at the beginning of this chapter Deuteronomy 8:1-9
1 “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. 5 You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you. 6 Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
Why did he do this? Verse 2 and 3 is the answer 2And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.
Do you remember our study on how Yahweh tested Israel. It was the Sabbath which was the test and distinguished between the mark of Yahweh and the mark of the beast. See https://sightedmoon.com/sightedmoon_2015/?page_id=224
It is the Sabbath which is the test and the sign that we show ourselves that we are followers of His. Each time we keep Holy the Sabbath day and the annual Holy Days and the Sabbatical Years, we pass the test and prove once again we are His flocks. Knowing this, now we can read
4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not. 5 And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.” 6 Then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt. 7 And in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord; for He hears your complaints against the Lord. But what are we, that you complain against us?” 8 Also Moses said, “This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.” 9 Then Moses spoke to Aaron, “Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before the Lord, for He has heard your complaints.’ ” 10 Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. 11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ “13 So it was that quails came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. 14 And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. 15 So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. 16 This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ” 17 Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. 18 So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need. 19 And Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.” 20 Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. 21 So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted. 22 And so it was, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. 23 Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’ ” 24 So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it. 25 Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field. 26 Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is the Sabbath, there will be none.” 27 Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none. 28 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws? 29 See! For the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” 30 So the people rested on the seventh day. 31 And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.
When they had gathered more than they needed the manna gave off a stink when it was kept until the morning. Yet on the 6th day they were able to gather twice as much and it did not stink or go bad on the Sabbath.
Why? It is because Yahweh blessed it and it did not spoil. The children of Israel were being blessed for obeying.
This is the example I am using to help me to understand about the Sabbatical year. How can we store food and it not spoil? How can we store food and not eat fresh vegetables and not get sick?
Shall we now do a study on faith? There are 229 scriptures that use the word faith. Look them up and see where your faith level is at.
In this Sabbatical year;
- we are commanded to forgive our brethren their debts and their sins.
- We are to gather enough food to last us until the crops come in the following year.
- We are not to plant or harvest or prune our plants. But many of you are already aware of this as you to can read Lev 25 and understand.
But what you are asking me is mostly how do you do it? How do those of us who live hand to mouth do it? How do you keep the Sabbatical year when you have no freezer?
I call it faith. Where there is a will there is a way. How strong is your will to obey? Find a freezer or borrow one. Pray to Yahweh to help you to do this and to get ready
Proverb 19:16 He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die.
Mat 19:17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
1 John 2:4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
The following is my opinion and is not found in scripture, but based upon what I have learned. Please follow scriptures and not any man.
I personally have never kept the Sabbatical year before. And in the same way I made mistakes when I first kept the Sabbath I expect to also make mistakes in keeping the Sabbatical year.
All babies first learn how to roll over, then to sit up and then stand up and then how to climb out of the play pen. Then they learn how to crawl and then toddle, then walk and then run and after this they learn how to ride a tricycle, and then a bike with training wheels, and then with out the training wheels, and then a car.
The whole time, you as a parent are thrilled and terrified as they fall or have set backs.
It is no different for our Father. He is thrilled to see His children begin to obey His voice. As they do they make mistakes and He will forgive them. He will also show us what He wants from us as He sees us progressing. If we stand still and do nothing He does nothing. He waits to see us moving forward towards Him.
Each of us has our own unique situation that we must deal with by ourselves. Some of us have the means by which we can buy more food and store it away. Others do not. What do they do? I am sorry I do not have the answer. We are commanded to do it. So find a way to do it.
Have you other sins in your life that prevent you from obeying? There are too many variables for me to answer them all.
As for me, and my house, we are going to keep this Sabbatical year. I am planning on doing it in the following manner with an unconverted mate.
I believe the year begins at Aviv and ends at Aviv. There for I will keep the Sabbatical year for this time period. But because there will be no new crops ready to eat at the end in Aviv 2010 then I am also planning on having enough food to bring me up to when the new crops do come in.
So do the simple math. Aviv 2009 to Aviv 2010 = 365 days, plus enough food to go to the fall, 180 days.
Total 545 days of food is needed. That is 18 months or 78 weeks.
I have already stored enough lunch bars for this time period. I have also begun to store rice and frozen vegetables and soups, as well as dehydrated fruits and canned vegetables and canned fruits. In case I run out of food I plan on having extra Quaker oats to eat, three times a day if necessary.
I am planning to purchase and store enough bread for 52 weeks which I will buy after the Days of Unleavened Bread and I plan to be out of bread by the time the Days of Unleavened bread come around again in 2010.
I also plan to buy my Matzos this year and to have enough for this year and next year and to last up to and after Pentecost in 2010 for lunches until the wheat harvest comes in after Pentecost. This is because I will not have bread.
This also means that any breaded meats that we might have will have to be bought after Passover 2009 and used before Passover 2010.
I will be buying and freezing enough frozen fruit drinks and fruits pies to last this time period. I also plan on purchasing a variety of frozen vegetables.
My garden, I let go to seed, and any of the things we put down which had seed we throw back into the garden. I also left my annuals in the ground and have covered them with straw and leaves to protect them from frost. I could have dug them up but I want to have them grow next year and bring the beauty that they do bring. I am hoping they survive. I am trying to convince my wife not to plant her may flower pots. In order to help her do this I have had to bring them in the house and plan on keeping them alive in the basement. Not sure if this will work.
I will buy my seeds for the garden this spring for the next year.
One of the small miracles that have already happened is that because my wife, who does not believe in any of this has heard me talk of the financial crisis before there was a financial crisis and what it is leading into, she has been helping me to decide what food to buy now and store and what to buy just before the year begins. I am thrilled to just have her help.
In Mal3:10 we are told to try Yahweh and see if He will not bless us for obeying. He is talking about the tithe but it also applies to this test of the Sabbatical year.
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
I also plan to have bags of Potatoes and tomatoes and apples and Oranges on the shelve and I will test Yahweh and see if He will treat them as He did the manna and not let it go bad during the Sabbath. Will He preserve the fresh fruit and vegetable for a whole sabbatical year on the shelve? There is only one way to find out. And that is to store fresh fruit and vegetable on the shelve and give Him the chance to show us.
The command in Lev says nothing about meat. It can be bought or sold through out this time. But be mindful of those things that you want to put on the meat, such as spices and salt and peppers and sauces.
I also will buy my vitamins and have a supply of them on hand.
A friend has sent me the following letter and I share it with you. YOU and YOU alone must decide what you are going to do. I do not agree with all that this letter says but I share it with you and let you decide what to do.
Sorry for the delay in responding. I reviewed the sites of numerous Sacred Name groups. Not much appears online about how to observe the Sabbatical Year. It would seem that this observance goes neglected by most of the groups.
The most detailed description came from YPTC’s Oct. 2007 newsletter, reproduced below (from yahstruth.org/Newsletters/200710.php). I hope this helps.
Incidentally, the Bethel organization provided monthly updates on how the Sabbatical observance was to be conducted through its monthly newsletter, The Narrow Way Newsletter. This publication is/was only available to its members. Among the information was the general dates to avoid consuming certain fresh foods and also food manufacturer codes found on cans and packages that show when the items were produced.
I was going to reproduce the guidelines that Yahs Truth used but I have decided not to. It has struck me as being too problematic. You can go to the webs site yourself.
The Year starts in the spring at Aviv and ends at Aviv the following year. But because most produce will not have reproduced in 2010 then we shall continue until after Pentecost and then as things become available then start to eat again from the land.
This is for all foods that come out of the ground whether fruit or vegetable.
I am not going to confuse you or burden you with having to look at process dates. Just go by the Holy Days. Again this is up to you.
What about traveling on business or for the Feast? What about taking my wife who does not believe out on our anniversary or going to my Mothers for a meal or to a wedding? The Torah is silent. You must decide and I am not going to tell you what to do in this area.
This year in Israel I met a man who has become a friend and he has read this News Letter for some time now. He told me how I had convicted him to give the third year tithe. He was determined he was not going to fail in this so that he could be blessed by Yahweh. If only we all had such determination. This man has inspired me to become more determined to obey.
It is with this determination that I intend to keep the Sabbatical Year and I do not even know what the blessing will be.
Brethren I do not have all the answers that you would hope I would. This is my first time too.
Many of you are convicted that this is something we need to do. Many of you as well as myself believe that to not even try will bring on us the curses of Lev 26.
WE all know that it is far better to try and fail than to never have tried at all.
Get that determination in you that will not give up. When Israel stood on the shore of the Red Sea they had no idea what to do when the sea opened up. But by faith they walked through it. At that moment they had no clue. No precedent to look back on. It had never happened before.
Brethren we have no precedent to look back on and say see this is what happened to them when they did it. In fact we are told they never did keep it and that is why they went into captivity.
When we look back at the Exodus and the Red Sea we see so many things in hindsight. What is in store for those of us who do this, I do not know? But in the future hind sight will show a difference between those of who kept the Sabbatical year and those who tried and failed and those who never even attempted.
What well history say about you? Did you stand with Yahweh and His commandments or not? Do you walk in to the Red Sea or turn and go back to the Egyptians? I look forward to reading the history of this moment, in the future, to see what we all did .
